Urgent Appeal: Responding to Crisis in DRC
In the remote region of MAI-NDOMBE, the Democratic Republic of Congo, families are facing a harrowing humanitarian crisis. Inter-ethnic conflict has forced thousands to flee their homes, leaving them vulnerable and in desperate need of support.
Medical Ambassadors International (MAI) has received a distressing plea for help. Our Community Health Education (CHE) coordinator, in collaboration with the Mennonite church, is on the ground targeting 200 vulnerable families. These families urgently require a balanced food basket and essential household items to survive. Homes and farm equipment have been destroyed by conflict and fires. MAI has sent initial funding from our crisis response fund, but more funding is desperately needed.
Many of these Internally Displaced People (IDPs) are sheltering with host families or occupying churches, relying entirely on external aid for their survival. Shockingly, according to Provincial Humanitarian Coordination, over 31,851 individuals, including 5,570 children under 17, have been displaced since the conflict began.
While we initiate Trauma Healing training for community leaders, the immediate need for survival resources cannot be overstated.
Please donate now and join us in prayer for this community.
Your generous donation will directly support a family, providing them with the critical aid they need to survive this crisis. Together, we can bring hope and relief to those who have lost everything.
MAI has created a ‘Crisis Response Fund’ [U 020] so we can respond within 48-72 hours when a CHE community reaches out to us for help. If you want to join us in our efforts to immediately respond to different types of disasters that affect the communities that we work with in our CHE programs around the world, please donate to this fund.
