Justine’s Journey of Redemption, Resilience, and Renewal

Justine’s early years were marked by persistent conflicts between her parents, leading to their separation. This turbulent family situation presented significant challenges for Justine, as she constantly moved between her parents’ homes. The instability in her living arrangements disrupted her education, ultimately resulting in her expulsion from school. Nevertheless, despite these hardships, Justine remained determined to one day establish a happy family of her own.

Her determination paid off as she successfully created a loving family later in life. Justine married and became a mother, working tirelessly to ensure her children received the support and encouragement needed to excel in their studies. Despite encountering numerous obstacles, she showed unwavering resilience, faith, and dedication in providing a secure and nurturing environment for her family.

When Community Health Evangelism (CHE) was introduced in her village, Justine’s enthusiasm for learning was reignited. She wholeheartedly embraced the program, turning her home into a shining example of a CHE household. Inspired by the program’s positive impact, Justine expressed her desire to become a facilitator. Despite her prolonged absence from formal education and her inability to read the facilitator’s manual, Justine refused to be disheartened.

She made the courageous choice to enroll in school alongside her three children, overcoming the initial embarrassment of being in the same class. Through sheer determination and persistence, she quickly mastered the CHE manuals, enabling her to effectively train others while pursuing her own studies.

Justine was committed to learning how to read so she could help her children and community. She dedicated countless hours to understanding the material. Through determination and perseverance, Justine mastered her reading skills. She was able to fully understand the curriculum outlined in the CHE manuals. Even though things weren’t always easy, she never gave up. She showed everyone that with enough perseverance and dedication, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. She became a role model for others, proving that education is a powerful tool that can change lives.

Today, Justine’s journey has come full circle. She secured a position at the local mission school. She teaches third-grade children. She was in third-grade when she was expelled from school and unable to return. Justine is a valued member among the 93 CHE trainers at Kapkoch Church. She has actively contributed in various leadership capacities within the Youth Ministry, Children Ministry, and the Praise and Worship team.

Through the implementation of the CHE curriculum, essential health topics have been addressed. Safe food preparation, hygienic practices, disease prevention, and nutritional education are being taught. The curriculum teaches community members how to avoid and treat various illnesses. Schistosomiasis, tuberculosis, and HIV are discussed. Parents are taught how to nurture their children and support their emotional well-being. Women’s health and other related topics are taught.

In Justine’s community, significant improvements have been made due to Community Health Evangelism.

Health standards have been elevated. Infant mortality rates have gone down. Agricultural productivity has skyrocketed and generated lots of employment opportunities.

Individuals within the community are experiencing a revitalized sense of self-worth and responsibility towards their surroundings, enabling them to identify needs and mobilize resources effectively.

Members of the community are gathering for fellowship, prayer, Bible study, and worship, actively sharing the message of Christ through both verbal communication and acts of compassion.

More About CHE

Community Health Evangelism (CHE) serves as a comprehensive approach for empowering communities to thrive in various aspects of life: physical, spiritual, and social. This entails equipping individuals with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to make informed decisions for themselves and their families.

We customize this process to address a wide range of global issues such as gender inequality, promoting responsible fatherhood and fostering stronger family units, ensuring access to quality education for children, combating human trafficking, HIV/AIDS prevention, and support for those affected by it, addressing food insecurity, eliminating discrimination against people with disabilities, facilitating microenterprise development, and much more.

Ultimately, CHE is about empowering communities to take control of their own well-being and enhance their quality of life. At present MAI is delivering CHE programs in 2,674 communities around the world impacting directly or indirectly a population of over 3.08 million people in 75 countries with 52,442 volunteers.

Proven Results of CHE

In CHE Communities, there’s a marked improvement in health, reduced infant mortality, increased agricultural productivity, and job creation. Infrastructure such as water systems, roads, schools, and clinics are constructed, and churches are established. Individuals rediscover their intrinsic worth as beings made in the image of God and their responsibility as stewards of the environment. Rather than being controlled by their surroundings, they take ownership of them. They’re empowered to identify needs, utilize resources, devise plans, and mobilize volunteers to fulfill their aspirations. Continuous reflection enhances effectiveness, while believers gather for fellowship, prayer, Bible study, and worship, sharing the message of Christ through both words and actions. Each of our target villages comprises approximately 1,000 individuals on average.
