How Do You Measure Transformation?
Some change can be counted—money saved, crops harvested, schools built. Other change is harder to measure—a father spending more time with his children, a woman walking with dignity, a community learning to trust again.
In Uganda’s Amuru District, transformation is happening in ways both seen and unseen.
Here, a group of men and women in the Tem Ki Kori Savings Group once struggled to make ends meet. Many lived day to day, never thinking beyond their next meal. Some had experienced conflict, trauma, and deep division—wounds that ran deeper than financial hardship.
Yet today, something remarkable is happening.
Beyond Numbers: The Stories of Change
✅ A Father’s Hands at Work—At Home
Not long ago, household chores in Amuru were considered “women’s work.” Cooking, sweeping, and caring for children were responsibilities left to wives and mothers, while men focused on work outside the home.
But something changed.
Through MAI’s program, men in the Tem Ki Kori group began seeing their homes as part of their responsibility. Today, they share in daily tasks, preparing meals and sweeping compounds. It’s a small but powerful shift—a recognition that leadership begins with serving.
✅ From Conflict to Community
For years, many families in Amuru struggled with domestic violence—not just physical, but emotional. Women felt unheard. Men felt pressure to provide without support. Arguments ended in silence or separation.
Now, something different is happening.
Because of MAI’s work in this community, families are learning new ways to resolve conflict. They are talking. Listening. Choosing peace over anger.
A woman once afraid to speak now shares her concerns with confidence. A husband who once stormed out in frustration now sits with his family and finds solutions.
These changes can’t be measured in numbers, but they are changing the future of families in this village.
✅ Trust Rebuilt, One Conversation at a Time
For the Tem Ki Kori group, saving money together wasn’t just about financial security. It was about learning to trust.
Many of these men and women once lived in suspicion of each other, uncertain whether group members would follow through on their commitments.
Today, something new is taking root.
🌱 Group members openly share challenges with one another.
🌱 They celebrate each other’s victories, big and small.
🌱 They no longer compete to get ahead but work together toward shared goals.
Transformation isn’t just in what they have—it’s in who they are becoming.
The Bigger Question: How Do YOU Measure Transformation?
For the Tem Ki Kori group, transformation isn’t just about financial growth—though they have saved over $687 this year alone.
It’s about fathers leading with love.
It’s about homes filled with peace.
It’s about trust restored, dignity renewed, and hope planted for the next generation.
So, how do you measure transformation?
Maybe it’s in a single act of kindness.
Maybe it’s in a moment of forgiveness.
Maybe it’s in choosing to build rather than tear down.
Transformation doesn’t happen all at once. It happens in small choices, daily steps, and simple acts of faith.
Today, would you pray for communities like Tem Ki Kori?
Would you invest in change that goes beyond numbers?
Together, we are planting seeds of transformation—one life at a time. 🌱
